Burdock root has a long history in traditional herbal liver-support formulas, and it completes our seven-ingredient LivaSorb blend.
What the studies looked at
A rat study tested burdock's effect on liver injury caused by alcohol and a liver-toxic chemical agent. It tracked standard liver enzyme markers (transaminases) and glutathione levels. A separate rodent study examined burdock polysaccharides specifically for their effect on acute liver injury markers, measuring ALT, AST, and oxidative stress indicators.
Why it matters for Livana
Both studies found burdock improved transaminase levels and supported glutathione activity in the animal models tested. Burdock's evidence base is currently animal-model research rather than human RCTs, and the same is true of chanca piedra and astragalus. Burdock is the seventh botanical in our LivaSorb blend, alongside milk thistle, artichoke, curcumin, ginger, schisandra, chanca piedra, and astragalus.
